The Pottery Problem

I've taken pottery classes. I loved working with clay. Then the course ended, and I had nowhere to keep practicing. My basement corner wasn't cutting it—no kiln, limited space, working alone.

I talked to other pottery enthusiasts. Same story everywhere. Studios have waiting lists. Classes fill up fast. People keep re-enrolling in beginner courses just to access studio space weekly. That's not learning—that's desperation for equipment access.

So I'm building the solution I wished existed.

Why Pieces Is Different

Pieces isn't a school. It's a club for people who've already started their pottery journey and want to keep going. We handle the messy logistics—space, equipment, kilns, supplies—so you can focus on making.

I've worked in management, customer service, and design. I understand operations and what makes a welcoming space work. But more importantly, I understand the pottery problem from experience. I'm building this because I need it too.

The Vision

A community-centered studio where pottery explorers continue their journey on their own schedule. Flexible access. Extended hours. Guaranteed wheel time. A supportive community that doesn't hover.

This is my retirement plan—I'm building something sustainable that serves Winnipeg's pottery community for decades. We're opening early 2026 in South Winnipeg
